Pan Cake Sunday

Well after a very long week of recovering from jetlag from our trip to France (10 Year anniversary! thank you hubby!) and then getting a flu or something.. i am finally operating at full speed which is a good thing because i need to be given we are entering birthday season and holiday season. Our friend Brenda (aka Beyah) stopped by to visit and needed a little pc help which was a wonderfer opportunity to visit and catchup with her and of course a chance to cook for someone!

I decided to make soup as we love having a soup for lunches and sunday dinner and i know Brenda loves soup. I looked in the pantry and i had split peas which is always a favorite around our house. I then attempted to make my first batch of semi homemade biscuits with Bisquick! They turned out i would say a 4 on a 10 scale but if you add a bunch of butter or dip them in my yummy split soup they were a good 6! :)

oh i almost forgot since the title of this post is pancake sunday then yes we had panckaes which is our typical sunday breakfast. I even was able to make a few pumpkin shaped pancakes which is always a big hit around our house with the little monsters..

ok signing off..

First Post

I think i created this blog over 2 years ago and I am finally deciding to try and enter my first blog. I have to admit i am a bit nervous because I am not a writer at all. But here it goes...my goal in doing this blog is to
1) somehow record my life for my kids at a later date
2) talk about cooking, recipes and food ...my hobby and obsessions
3) record memorable events about our family...not sure about this one because do we really want our entire life on the web.. everyone else is doing it yes but my daughter might want to run for president one day and if i post a picture of her bathing with her brother will this be possible.. :)

ok here it goes..

LIFE
Today is a typical Saturday, hockey for Finnigan (son age 5) and then to the park with both kids while Dad takes his hockey class. Then we came home around 11, we have dressed up as cats, put on our pajamas, practiced our trick or treating, just finished painting a few halloween pics, eaten a fine lunch of canned mini ravioli and now settling down for a show before nap time for both kids.. WOW it is only 1PM and i am tired...kids are tired and i need desperately to work more on Charlotte's 4th Birthday Party.

FOOD

I wanted to include a section about food because this is something that excites me and also is something that i spend a great deal of time reading about. I also thought it would be a good way to record things i have tried and how they come out.

Last nights dinner, was a pretty typical diner around here steak for hubby and kids and salmon for Mom (so i thought), yummy new potatoes, and a mixed green salad with carrots, red bellpepper and cucumbers. The steak was a New York cut which i put a bit of olive oil and whichester sauce on and salt and pepper. I broiled it for about 5-7 minutes on both sides. The potatoes i simply steamed and then put some salt and pepper on them. And my favorite the salmon (which hubby doesnt like and also says it stinks up the kitchen) i tried my friend's method of cooking the salmon which was to brown the salmon in a pan and then cook it in the oven for about 10 minutes.. TOTALLY LOVED IT! and to top it off hubby said it didn't stink.. i think that makes it a complete success. :) hehe..
